Panch Kedar Yatra:

Panch Kedar Yatra:

According to Hindu myth Panch Kedar relates to the Pandavas of Mahabharata, the heroes of the famous Hindu epic who built Panch Kedar Temples (means five temples of Lord Shiva) located in Uttrakhand at Garhwal Himalayan Region and known as Kedarnath, Kalpnath, Tungnath, Madmaheshwar and Rudranath.

Pandavas found guilty of killing their own cousins-Kauravas and Brahmins in the Kurukshetra war. They went to search Lord Shiva in Kashi (Varanasi) to seek Lord Shiva's blessings but Lord Shiva was not interested in meeting them as he was deeply incensed by the death and dishonesty at the Kurukshetra war. Lord Shiva disguised himself as a bull and hid in the Garhwal region at Guptkashi after seeing Pandavas coming in Kashi. Not finding Shiva in Kashi, Pandavas also moved to Garwal not where Bhima saw a bull grazing in Guptkashi and he immediately recognized the bull to be Lord Shiva and hold the bull's tail and hind legs, thus preventing it from vanishing.

In the struggle that ensued different parts of Lord Shiva's body appeared at various places with the rump of the bull at Kedarnath, the matted hair of Shiva at Kalpeshwar (Kalpnath), the Arms at Tungnath, the torso including the navel (Nabhi) at Madhyamaheshwar, the face at Rudranath.

It is believed that forelegs of Lord Shiva appeared in Nepal at Pashupatinath Kathmandu. The Pandavas worshipped Lord Shiva in Panch Kedar temples and freed from their all past sins.
